FAQs on GATE & GATE Courses

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an All-India Examination conducted by the seven Indian Institutes of Technology and the Indian Institute of Science, Ghaziabad, on behalf of the National Coordinating Board – GATE, Department of Education, Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD), Government of India.

  • Bachelor’s degree holders in Engineering/Technology/Architecture and those who are in the final year of such programmes.
  • Master’s degree holders in any branch of Science/Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Applications or equivalent and those who are in the final or pre-final year of such programmes.
  • Candidates in the second or higher year of the Four-year Integrated Master’s degree programme (Post-B.Sc.) in Engineering/Technology or in the third or higher year of Five-year Integrated Master’s degree programme and Dual Degree programme in Engineering/ Technology.
  • Candidates with qualifications obtained through examination conducted by professional societies recognised by UPSC/AICTE as equivalent to B.E./B.Tech. Those who have completed Section A or equivalent of such professional courses are also eligible.

GATE is usually held on weekends starting from last week of January or 1st week of February. There could be multiple sessions for some of the streams. Forenoon session would be usually conducted at 9am to 12 Noon and Afternoon Session will be conducted at 2pm to 5pm

Step. 1 Procurement of Application FormCandidate can obtain a packet containing (i) OFFLINE Application Form (ii) Information Brochure (iii) Acknowledgment Card (iv) Envelope from:
  1. Designated Bank Branches corresponding to each zone on cash payment.
  2. Zonal GATE Office by sending a request letter and TWO self-addressed slips along with a Demand Draft for appropriate amount.
  3. Zonal GATE Office after handing over Demand Draft for appropriate amount.
Step. 1 Obtain a Demand DraftThe candidates must obtain a Demand Draft, drawn on any nationalized bank in favor of Chairman of the corresponding zonal GATE Office, the website of which the candidate wishes to submit online Application.

Step 4. Post/SubmissionDuly filled-in Application Form with appropriate enclosures must be sent by Registered or Speed post to the Chairman, GATE of the Zone, where the candidate prefers (corresponding to the 1st Choice of Examination City) to appear for the examination

Step 5. Post/SubmissionDuly filled-in Application Form with appropriate enclosures must be sent by Registered or Speed post to the Chairman, GATE of the Zone, the website of which has been used for making ONLINE registration

iGATE – Live Classes for GATE-faqs

It indicates, currently there is no Live Class going on. You may wish to check class schedule at “info@coracle.in“. You may decide to catch up some classes in “Video on Demand” classes

In the same session, using the player, you should be able to go back to the beginning of the session and replay what the faculty had said earlier. Faculty will not receive chats in the middle of his lecture.

The faculty chat is moderated, and goes through an administrator. Administrator collects questions and passes them on to the faculty after the class of 40 minutes. Faculty will discuss your questions in 15 minutes of Question Discussion Time. Your questions should be clear, complete and relevant to the topic being discussed.

The faculty attempts to answer all the questions in the time given. However the questions must be relevant and should pertain to the current class. So yes, within reasonable limits, all your questions will be answered.

GATE Online Test Series – FAQs

Full Syllabus Tests do come with a predefined schedule, while Section Tests can be taken as and when it is made available in your login.

Section Tests are activated during initial few months, where as Full Syllabus Test will be activated in by September for the corresponding GATE Year

An active internet connection and a browser like Internet Explorer or Firefox is all you need to access these tests.

Time limit is displayed when you activate a particular test. Usually Full Syllabus Test, which is exact GATE Pattern test is for 3 hours and Section Test is for 1 Hour.

Anytime. Once the tests are available, you can attempt them 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

You have an option to download Full Syllabus Test, but not Section Test

Yes, you do have an option to view key and solutions for all questions that you attempt as a part of our Test Series.

“Results” Tab against every test helps you provide detailed results for the given test. Self Analysis & Comparative Analysis are provided for Full Syllabus Test, whereas for Section Tests, Self Analysis is only provided.

Gdrive Installation Process

  • Ensure that the Computer/Tab you want to install Gdrive is connected to internet.
  • Computer – Insert SD Card in to card reader provided to you in this pack, Now plug card reader into a USB port and open the Gdrive folder – Install the setup file (Gdrive.exe)
  • Tab – Insert SD Card into SD card slot and open external storage – Install the setup file (Gdrive.apk)
  • Once the installation is completed, a shortcut Gdrive icon will appear on your desktop/app screen. Double click the icon to access Gdrive content.
  • You will be required to enter Login credentials, which you must have received in the welcome mail from info@coracle.in
  • After successful login, student will get “my books” screen in which all the books assigned to student will be downloaded automatically. Click on each & explore.
